Job Summary
The right candidate is used to a quick and active environment, and will have experience in New Home Construction or related industry. They are great communicators and problem solvers, who display strong servant leadership skills. This position requires extreme attention to detail, a teamwork mindset, and high-level project projection while upholding company standards for safety, environmental compliance, customer communication, progress tracking, documentation, and handling trade partner issues in an appropriate manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works with leadership to update the business plan and financial forecasts
- Manage staff of 3 for AP/AR & payroll functions
- Runs reports, dashboards, and internal audits to find opportunities & areas for process improvement
- Works closely in Excel to create necessary output reports from MarkSystem data to link dashboards and reports for forecasting
- Ensure all payments are completed on time (including accounts payable and bank deposits)
- Review accounts receivable and collects outstanding monies
- Budgeting, forecasting & analyzing cost and profits
- Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations
- Review monthly progress reports for projects and cost projections
- Promote an atmosphere of accountability that focuses on quality and customer satisfaction
- Maintain state registrations, business and tax licenses, etc.
- Have operational involvement with project managers on job costs, margins, and forecasting
- Drive continued process improvement, including working cross-functionally, to create repeatable, consistent best practices that enable scale
- Constantly monitor the market, identify trends, and support the owners to react quickly
- Ensure Management is informed and aware of important changes, happenings, and any other pertinent information
- Perform other duties and ad hoc requests as needed
- Decision making and independent judgment will be required on a day-to-day basis
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Must have at least seven years of experience in accounting/finance positions
- Must have advanced Microsoft Excel Skills with knowledge of SQL query structures
- Preferred experience with Power BI and Crystal reports
- Preferred auditing experience within the construction industry
- Preferred experience with cash flow modeling
- Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
- Demonstrated strong managerial and leadership background, providing a successful record of setting, establishing and meeting goals
- Possess exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to train, mentor and motivate
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills by using persistence and the ability to overcome obstacles
Other Qualifications
- Knowledge of construction contracts
- Prior experience in the home building industry is required.
- Prefer previous experience working with MarkSystems.
- Strong communication skills.
